Finnsheep Wool
Finn wool is generally described as fine, white, soft, and lustrous. Throughout the quarantine breeding program heavy emphasis was placed on improving wool qualities, particularly in the area of micron count. Despite this there still remains a variation in the micron counts between the sirelines in the purebred Finn.

The micron count of a Finn/Merino cross will be dependent on the micron count of both the Finn and Merino parents.
It is recommended that prospective buyers should cross the Finn with the type of Merino best suited to their region.
The following graph illustrates the micron spread of a Merino/Finn cross hogget. The animal had a micron of 23.9 at 12 months and 24.4 at 30 months.
